The Amazing Weber Q 140 Electric Grill

Why a Weber Q 140?

One word: Quality! I was in the market for a brand new electric grill; in the past I have owned two different models of Sanyo grill, a very nice Zojirushi grill, a Foreman grill and a Delonghi grill. All do the job very well and each has their own pros and cons, but now I wanted to try something a little more... developed. After searching around the net, I found that the Weber Q 140 was rated very highly by most owners. OK, that had me convinced. So I ordered one from Amazon.

Upon getting the Weber Q 140 home, I found that it is made of quality materials and I also found it no sweat to put together. IMHO, this thing is well built. OK fine, but how well does it grill? I plugged it in and found that the Q 140 nicely heats up to an extremely high temperature in less than 15 minutes... and once it's this hot, there's lots of grilling heat to cook everything, right up to a steak!

This is a very nice sized grill for up to four people, but if you have more than four big eaters present, you may want to leave room on the grill for the food by skipping toasting the buns. This grill has a very nice lid which gives it a great advantage over most less expensive electric grills, most of which don't have a cover. If they do come with a cover, the lids are too shallow for practical use. This cover keeps the heat where it should be and reflects the heat back down onto the food. One thing I like to do is wrap some mesquite wood chips into a piece of tinfoil wrap and smoke the chips on the grill before starting to grill the food. With the cover in place, your food will get smoked and have that great smokey flavor.

I found that the cleanup is very easy... the grilling surface is very easily removed to be cleaned in the sink or even put in the dishwasher. I read a couple of reviews by owners who stated that it was complicated to clean but I did not find this the case at all. Like any grill though, it's best to clean it as soon as it's cooled down a bit. What I found is that all I have to do is wipe the grilling grate and clean the bottom of the grill. This only takes a few minutes.

The side table kit, which attaches to the handles, is a very nice accessory that will come in handy. This will allow you to place a plate or small tray on either side of the grill, to handily place uncooked and cooked food, buns, spices, and what-have-you.

But I think the best accessory for the Weber Q 140 is the rolling cart which is matched to the Q line. This makes the grill look and feel like a gas grill! And this grill in my humble opinion, is built much better than the any Foreman Grill. And if you like to grill after sunset, the Weber Q handle light is will come in very handy and is inexpensive.

So for under $300 you can have a nicely outfitted Weber electric grill that is perfect for condos and apartments. Or, if you don't really like the thought of propane and an open flame, even suburban homes will find this grill amazing..

As I mentioned earlier, I have owned five electric grills (four different brands) in the past many years and I believe this is definitely the best one that I have used and owned. Oh yeah, you'll pay more for the Weber Q 140 than the rest, but this goes to prove the old saying, you only get what you pay for. This is a real grill, not a toy that will only last one year! You won't be disappointed with this grill at all.
